§ Mrs. Ray Michie
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office how many people have been affected by the exclusion of Crown Service prior to 1975 in the calculation of their Civil Service pension; and what plans he has to introduce retrospective legislation.
§ Mr. Kilfoyle
Information on the numbers so affected, particularly given the lapse in time, is not available.
The Armed Forces pension scheme introduced arrangements, operative from 1 April 1975, which enable a transfer value representing accrued pension rights to be paid to another pension scheme. As with most improvements in pension arrangements, the change was not applied retrospectively. The Government have no plans for backdated changes to the Armed Forces (or other Crown service) pension arrangements.
