§ Angela Eagle
Groundwater resources used for potable supply are monitored for microbiological parameters by the water service companies. These data are not held centrally. In general, groundwater is free of microbiological contaminants. Enteric bacteria and viruses are generally filtered out by the passage of water32W through strata before it reaches an aquifer, and therefore before such groundwater is abstracted. All drinking water is disinfected before being put into supply.
