To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what is the average retirement age for a police officer; 
(2) what is the average age at which police officers retire on invalidity pensions.

Information on the age at which police officers retire is not collected routinely. The average retirement ages in the table are based on a study carried 641W out in 1992 of police officers in forces in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland who retired from the service with an immediate pension in 1991.
