To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his answer of 14 May,Official Report, column 383, if the teacher named and the letter from the Minister of State, the hon. Member for Upminster (Sir N. Bonsor), of 28 March has been able to take advantage of the new rules relating to maternity leave on St. Helena; and if he will make a statement. 
§ Sir Nicholas Bonsor
The teacher was not able to take advantage of the new rules relating to confinement leave in St. Helena as she resigned from her job on 25 April 1996. The new rules became effective from 31 May 1996.
