§ Mr. David Porter
To ask the Secretary of State for Health what savings she expects to result from the 31W abolition of the Anglia and Oxford regional health authority; and how many of those savings will be put into health care in East Anglia.
§ Mr. Malone
By 1997–98, total annual savings from the abolition of regional health authorities are expected to be around £100 million. These substantial savings will be retained by the national health service and thus will be available to be reinvested in patient care.
