§ Mr. Harry Greenway
To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many pensioners are estimated to have no income other than the statutory retirement pension; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Arbuthnot
Information is not available on the number of pensioners whose sole income is retirement pension. An estimated 92 per cent. of pensioner couples* and 81 per cent of single pensioners receive income on top of state benefits.* Pensioner couples are those where the husband is over 65.
