To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the cost of policing fox hunts in each chief constabulary in Scotland during each financial year since 1990–91; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 1 July 1994]: Central Scotland police, Grampian, Northern constabulary and Tayside police have not incurred any expense in policing fox hunts since 1990. Details relating to costs incurred by Fife constabulary and Strathclyde police are not readily available. The estimated costs for policing this activity by Dumfries and Galloway constabulary and Lothian and Borders police are as follows:145W
