§ 22. Mr. Duncan Smith
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what proportion of public spending on transport in London is spent on roads; and what proportion on public transport.
§ Mr. Norris
In 1992–93 public investment in London Transport, Network SouthEast and docklands light railway amounted to around £1,400 million, while expenditure by central Government and local authorities on roads in London, excluding M25, was about £400 million. Expenditure on Network SouthEast benefited a broader area than London alone.
