§ Mr. Howard
For the following executive non-departmental bodies the Home Secretary is responsible for appointing both the chairman and the board members. These are:
- Alcohol Education and Research Council
- Commission for Racial Equality
- Community Development Foundation
- Gaming Board
- Horserace Totalisator Board
- Fire Services Research and Training Trust
For the remaining executive non-departmental bodies, the position is as follows:
Office of the Data Protection RegistrarThe registrar is a Crown appointment.There are no members.
Police Complaints AuthorityThe chairman is a Crown appointment.Board members are appointed by the Home Secretary.
Police Promotions Examinations BoardThe chairman is appointed by the Home Secretary.Members are nominated by the local authority and staff associations represented on the board.
Fire Services Examination BoardThe chairman is appointed by the Home Secretary.Four members are appointed by the Home Secretary.The remaining members are appointed by the local authority and staff associations represented on the board.
Horserace Betting Levy Board650WThe chairman is appointed by the Home Secretary.Two independent members are appointed by the Home Secretary.The remainder of the board comprises representatives of the racing and betting industries: three British Horseracing Board appointees, the chairman of the Horserace Totalisator Board and the chairman of the Bookmakers Committee.
