§ Mr. Tom Clarke
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs with which organisations in Brazil the Government have worked to help Brazilian street children.
§ Mr. Goodlad
The Overseas Development Administration, through its joint funding scheme, currently supports projects for Brazilian street children with the National Movement of Street Boys and Girls, and the Brazilian Centre for Poor Girls and Adolescents. This assistance has been channelled through the British NGOs childhope, Womankind, CAFOD, Oxfam and Christian Aid. In addition, funds have been made available from the British ambassador's small projects fund to support the Sao Martinho shelter for street children in Rio de Janeiro.
