To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if the Minister for the Disabled has received any representations in regard to settling out of court the claims of haemophiliacs who have been contaminated with the HIV virus by the injection of blood products supplied under the National Health Service; what replies have been sent; and if he will make a statement.

I have received two representations from the right hon. Member on this subject. I replied to the first letter on 2 October and will shortly reply to the other. I have today placed a copy of my reply of 2 October in the Library. A number of other representations have also been received by my hon. and right hon. Friends in the Department of Health, who have responsibility for this subject.
