In November 1987 I announced a new departure in arts funding with a three-year settlement for the years 1988–89 to 1990–91. In November 1988 I announced the rolling forward of this central Government programme to 1991–92. As is now customary, I would hope to be able to make a similar statement in respect of 1992–93 this autumn.55W
