To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how much money has been collected by way of light dues in each of the past three years, specifying the amounts paid by the different types of vessels.

Light dues receipts to the general lighthouse fund in respect of the last three financial years were as follows:

1985–86 42,496,896
1986–87 48,804,040
1987–88 55,109,657

An analysis by different types of vessel is available only for 1985–86 and is as follows:
