§ Mr. Hume
To ask the Prime Minister if she will make a statement on co-ordination between the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and other interested Government Departments on Her Majesty's Government policy towards the draft United Nations convention on the rights of the child with particular reference to its compatibility with existing domestic policies and legal provisions.
§ The Prime Minister
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office plays a co-ordinating role in the negotiations on the draft United Nations convention on the rights of the child, liaising as necessary with other Government Departments. Domestic policy and legal provisions are of course primarily a matter for the Department of Health and Social Security.
