§ Lord Kennet
asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether a second list of London Underground stations of special architectural and/or historic interest has been drawn up; if so, whether it has been submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment; and, if so, whether it is yet in operation.
The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (The Earl of Caithness)
The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England has recommended that 26 London Underground stations should be added to the relevant lists of buildings of special architectural or historic interest. Thirty-five stations are already listed, including many of the most widely admired examples. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State will not be taking decisions on these further proposals until after the inquiry into the King's Cross fire has been completed.
