The table gives information on expenditure on the purchase of text and library books per full-time equivalent pupil in Scottish schools, and on library books per full-time equivalent student in central institutions, in 1979–80 and in 1984–85, the latest year for which information is available. It is for each education authority and central institution to determine its own priorities in the allocation of resources for such purchases. 301W Students in higher education are generally responsible for the purchase of their own text books.
