§ 44. Sir John Biggs-Davison
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about Anglo-Argentine relations with special reference to the south Atlantic.
§ 57. Mr. Tim Smith
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy on non-negotiability of the sovereignty and self-determination of the Falkland Islanders in the light of the recent offer made by the Government of Argentina.
§ Mr. Eggar
We shall continue to seek more normal relations with Argentina, while honouring our commitments to defend the Falkland Islanders' right to self-determination. We are disappointed that Argentina continues to refuse to co-operate on matters of practical importance to us both. In addition, I refer my hon. Friend to the answer that I gave the hon. Member for Berwick-Upon-Tweed (Mr. Beith) earlier today.
