(2) of the total number of slops not resulting in a charge from 1 January 1984 to 1 July 1984 in P district of the Metropolitan police, what was the proportion of stops as a result of reasonable suspicion of (a) possession of drugs, (b) possession of an offensive weapon, (c) possession of stolen goods and (d) others, including a breakdown.
§ Mr. Giles Shaw
I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that information on stops, including reasons for such stops is collected centrally only annually and information for part of the year could only be provided at disproportionate cost. I will write to the hon. Member about the parts of his question relating to arrests and charges.
