HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c900W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what response has been made by the Association of London Authorities to the letter sent by his Department, dated 19 May, regarding the need for statutory provision of some suitable kind to achieve co-ordination and coherence between boroughs in planning policies.

Mr. Macfarlane

A letter was sent to the Association of London Authorities on 9 May, and a reply received on 30 May. The association remained of the view that an elected, statutory London-wide strategic planning body was needed.

The Local Government Act makes provision for a joint committee of London boroughs to consider and give advice on matters of common interest relating to planning.
