asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take steps to increase the availability of margarines high in polyunsaturates in National Health Service hospitals.
§ Mr. Whitney
The Department's Catering and Dietetic Branch devoted Issue No. 10 of the Health Service Catering Bulletin (August 1985) to healthy food in hospitals, and this included the suggestion that margarines high in polyunsaturates should be more widely available. Further advice on healthy food in hospitals will be given in the next edition of the Branch's publication "Nutrition and Modified Diets" which will be published early next year.
