asked the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has about the number of applications to fly in competition with existing operators which have been received by the Civil Aviation Authority following the publication of its report on competition; if he will list the routes, indicating whether they are British, European or other international; if he will list the objections to the applications to compete with existing operators on these routes; and if he will name the objectors; and if he will make a statement.

Air transport licences are a matter for the Civil Aviation Authority and I am asking the chairman of the authority to write to the hon. Member. I shall place a copy of the chairman's letter in the Library.
