§ 67. Mr. Barron
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on public inquiries set up by him to limit and restrict access on common land.
§ Mr. MacFarlane
When an application is made for an order to impose limitations and conditions as to the exercise of rights of public access to common land, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has discretion to hold a public inquiry to assist him in determination of the application. A decision whether or not to hold such an inquiry is taken in the light of the representations received in each case.
