asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) what is the average price paid by the Central Electricity Generating Board for(a) coal and (b) oil over the last three months for which figures are available; and how these figures compare with those for the same periods in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983;
(2) whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing for coal and oil delivered to power stations under the control of the Central Electricity Generating Board, in the most recent month or week for which figures are available, the average or a representative price per tonne.
§ Mr. Goodlad
The latest available information, published in the "Digest of United Kingdom Energy Statistics 1984", shows that the average price of coal and 335W oil burnt at power stations in Great Britain in 1983 was £42.29 and £120.71 per tonne, respectively. The corresponding figures for the earlier years are as follows:
