Mr. Ron Brown
asked the Secretary of State for Energy what representations he has received concerning Edinburgh's claim to be made a lead city for combined heat and power; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Buchanan-Smith
Numerous representations have been received concerning Edinburgh's wish to be a 67W lead city for combined heat and power, including meetings with Department of Energy Ministers and Correspondence from interested parties.
As indicated in my right hon. Friend's announcement of 5 April, local consortia wishing to seek financial assistance for the preparation of a prospectus for a combined heat and power scheme in up to three of the nine towns considered in the Atkins report should submit their proposals to the energy efficiency office by 31 July 1984. Decisions will be taken in the light of proposals received.
