§ Mr. Dunn
On 6 August 1984 my right hon. Friend approved Liverpool city council's proposals, published on 4 November 1983, for the reorganisation of county secondary schools with modifications to retain Holly lodge county secondary school for girls and West Derby county secondary school for boys and to defer implementation until August 1985. The authority is now required to implement these proposals as modified, including the establishment of a new school by amalgamation of Aigburth vale girls' school and Quarry bank high school.
§ Mr. Dunn
Total grant aid in the order of £2.52 million to £3 million will have been paid by the Department on capital building projects arising solely from Roman Catholic secondary reorganisation over the period since 1982–83; and my right hon. Friend will continue to afford what priority he can within the resources available nationally to support the work required to allow the full implementation of the Liverpool Roman Catholic secondary reorganisation. As the hon. Member is aware, the Department has taken up with Liverpool local education authority the question of the provision of furniture and equipment at the St. Francis Xaviers school in the light of the authority's refusal to purchase those items which are the property of the Society of Jesus, the former proprietor of the school
