asked the Secretary of State for Energy how much was paid by his Department to (a) the International Atomic Energy Agency, (b) the Nuclear Energy Agency, (c) the International Energy Agency and (d) any other international organisation, in the last financial year.

Estimated payments, including subscriptions and contributions to projects for the 1981–82 financial year, are as follows:

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) 2657
The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) 136
The International Energy Agency (IEA) 5425

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority contributed £5,052,000 towards the joint European Torus sited at Culham and £94,000 towards the NEA data bank in France. These costs were met from part A of Class IV, Vote 7: Scientific and Technical Assistance: Nuclear Energy.
