Forty-five new manufacturing units, each employing 11 or more people, have opened in Scottish new towns since 1 January 1979. A breakdown of their activity by order in the standard industrial78W classification is set out as follows. These figures do not include units with less than 11 employees nor expansions of established units on the same site.
