§ Sir William van Straubenzee
From 1 April 1982 the Central Stipends Authority for the Church of England has recommended a national minimum stipend range for rectors and vicars of £5, 500 and £6, 000 per annum and for curates a six-year scale from £4, 500 to £5, 100 per annum.
Subject to these recommendations, the actual level of augmentation of a clergyman's stipend is determined by the bishop of his diocese with the concurrence of his diocesan board of finance.
I am sending to the hon. Member a copy of the Central Stipends Authority's 1981 report upon these and related matters.
