§ Q34. Mr. Arthur Lewis
asked the Prime Minister whether it was on her instructions that the Cabinet Office gave prior information to the solicitors of Mr. Blunt of her intention of making a statement concerning his confession of being a spy; in how many cases in the past such action has been taken; why it was 283W done in this case; and whether she will make a statement.
§ The Prime Minister
The answer to the first part of the question is "Yes". For the rest, I refer the hon. Member to my reply of 20 November to the hon. Member for South Shields (Dr. Clark) and to my speech in the House on 21 November. The circumstances in which the action was taken by the Cabinet Office have not previously arisen.
