§ Mr. David Price
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the estimated loss of revenue to the Board of Inland Revenue if the mobility allowance were to be made tax free in the fiscal year 1977–78.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon,
pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 24th January 1977; Vol. 924, c. 412], gave the following reply:
I regret that information on which to base a precise estimate is not available, but the loss of revenue would be unlikely to exceed £3 million.
