Lord CAMPBELL of CROY
asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will ensure that appropriate consultation is carried out with the Law Society of Scotland, when 1270WA legislation is being prepared with which the Society is concerned, in view of the contribution that the Society can make at the early stages and the wide difference at present in the practices of Departments, some carrying out close consultation with the Society while others do little.
§ The MINISTER of STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (Lord Kirkhill)
The Government are fully aware of the standing of the Law Society as representative of the solicitor profession in Scotland, and of the value of the advice that it can provide. The Scottish Office values its close contacts with the Society and holds regular meetings with its representatives.
House adjourned at four minutes before nine o'clock.
