§ Mr. Michael Latham
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, pursuant to the answer given by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury to the right hon. Member for Blackburn (Mrs. Castle) on 3rd November. Official Report. column 594, he will (a) provide in tabular form examples of how the last two public expenditure White Papers would have set out the nationalised industries investment programmes, had the proposed new system been operating then and (b) whether he will provide in future White Papers that information will be set out, for comparison purposes, on both the present and the proposed bases.
§ Mr. Joel Barnett
The investment programmes of the nationalised industries will no longer be included in the main tables in the public expenditure White Paper. They will be in a separate section of the White Paper and it will be possible to compare them with the programmes set out in the last public expenditure White Paper (Cmnd. 6393). The forecasts of net Government lending to the industries which will be included in the main tables in the new presentation will be supplemented by figures for the outturn years which in the next White Paper will be 1971–72 to 1975–76.
