§ Lord RAGLAN
asked Her Majesty's Government:
Why the Department of the Environment and the Welsh Office, having received certain grants from the EEC early in 1976, have not passed them on to the new towns and local authorities who should be their recipients.
The LORD CHANCELLOR (Lord ElwynJones)
Of the £1,886,652 received by the Welsh Office from the European Regional Development Fund in March 1976, £1,201,894 has already been distributed to local authorities and the Mid Wales Development Corporation. The balance will be paid following the examination of the relevant schemes. This is to ensure that grants from the Fund do not duplicate specific grants or grants under the Local Employment Act 1972. The Department of the Environment are still awaiting transfers from the1442WA Fund in relation to projects put forward by local authorities and new town development corporations in England.
