§ Mr. Nicholas Winterton
asked the Secretary of State for Defence what sums have been spent on overseas arms purchases in the years 1974 and 1975 to date, respectively.
§ Mr. William Rodgers
As shown in the Statement on Defence Estimates 1975, purchases of defence equipment from overseas in the financial year 1974–75 amounted to £120 million and the forecast for 1975–76 is £130 million. These figures exclude transactions in respect of collaborative projects which are generally self-balancing.
