§ Mr. Canavan
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will advise Scottish local authorities that, in future, when applications for a staffing vacancy are restricted to serving local government employees within a particular area, internal advertising is sufficient, and that advertising in the local or national Press is unnecessary;
(2) if he will ascertain and publish the expense incurred in Press notices to advertise local authority staffing positions arising 140W as a result of Scottish local government reform.
§ Mr. William Ross
I have no information about the costs incurred by local authorities for this purpose. It is for each authority to decide for itself the form and amount of publicity required.
