§ Mr. Eldon Griffiths
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if members of the British Embassy staff in Washington attended the hearings of the United States Senate Committee hearing evidence on modifications ordered to be made to the cargo doors of all DC10 aircraft of the type which recently crashed near Paris; if so, what report they have made to himself and the Secretary of State for Trade, and if they did not attend and report, why not.
§ Mr. Ennals
A Civil Aviation Authority representative attended the hearings of the United States Senate Committee, which involved the aircraft manufacturer and the United States Federal Aviation Administration. He is reporting to the authority, which will, I am advised, be taking any action which may be necessary.
