§ Mr. Arnold Shaw
asked the Minister of Overseas Development what were the totals of loans and grants under the heading of British Official Economic Aid to Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Syria, respectively, during the period 1967 to 1969.
§ Mrs. Hart
Yes. I believe that the general tenor of the Jackson Report would, if implemented, be of great advantage to the developing countries, particularly in respect of country programming. It is essentially for this reason that, at the Governing Council of 207W the United Nations Development Programme now in special session to discuss the report, our representative is giving general support to it. The session provides a useful opportunity for discussion of the Jackson recommendations with both developed and developing country members of the council, but I do not expect firm conclusions to be reached at this stage.
