§ 47. Mr. Barnett
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will seek a meeting with the joint stock banks to discuss the desirability of legislation to provide that no bank charges shall be made without the amount of such charges having been agreed with the customer.
§ Mr. Taverne
No. I do not think legislation is called for. But I recognise that there is some public anxiety on this question, and I am sure that the banks are aware of this.
