§ Mr. David Clark
asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science in which local education authorities, or divisional executive areas, it is necessary for children to pass the 11-plus or its equivalent in order to attend a comprehensive school.
§ Mr. van Straubenzee
This unusual situation has arisen when a comprehensive school is temporarily serving in part as selective provision for some children in the neighbourhood until their own schools can be extended or adapted as comprehensive schools. My information is that there are such arrangements in about 25 areas, of which the Colne Valley is one.
