§ 62. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne
asked the Minister of Technology what is now the total number of advance factories built, being built and to be built in Scotland since October, 1964; how many of these have been allocated to tenants to date; what is the total number of male and female employees, respectively, currently working in such factories; and what is the estimated total cost to public funds.
§ Mr. Varley:
Of the 64 Ministry of Technology advance factories authorised for Scotland since October, 1964, 44 are completed, seven are under construction and 13 are to be built. Thirty-four factories have been allocated to tenants and two are to be sold. They are at present providing employment for about 1,200 men and 2,050 women, but when all the factories are in full production a further 2,700 jobs may be provided. The factories, excluding cost of the land, are expected to cost about £7.3 million.
