HC Deb 24 March 1969 vol 780 c232W
Mr. Kenneth Baker

asked the Postmaster-General if he will give a breakdown of the figures given for operating and engineering expenses in Statement B of the Post Office Accounts for 1967–68 between current expenses, capital expenses, historic depreciation and supplementary depreciation.

Mr. Stonehouse

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to Statement A of the Post Office Accounts—not Statement B.

Operating expenses cover:

£ £
Current expenses 435,153,716
Depreciation provisions:
Historic 72,246,502
Supplementary 21,231,000

A further breakdown is given in Statements A2 and A3 of the Post Office Accounts. Engineering expenses represent wholly current expenses and are detailed in Statement A4.
