§ 37. Sir D. Renton
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the total sum of money which local authorities will be permitted to spend during the financial year 1968–69 in performance of their duties under the Civil Defence (Public Protection) Regulations, 1967; and what Exchequer contributions will be made towards that sum.
§ Mr. Ennals
No sum is specifically allocated for the purposes mentioned in the Question. Expenditure by local authorities in England and Wales on all civil defence matters for which they will continue to be responsible will be about £.3.2 million in 1968–69. The Exchequer contribution to this sum will be £2.6 million.
