§ 95. Sir W. Bromley-Davenport
asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware of the widespread distribution through the post of lottery tickets from Malta to addresses in this country; whether his regulations permit this use of the British postal services; what steps are being taken to check it; and whether he will take steps to prevent the use of the new mass postal distributing service for such purposes.74W
§ Mr. Bevins
The use of the post for the distribution of these tickets to addresses in this country is prohibited: and if they are found in the post they are stopped. I do realise that some of these tickets are getting into the country in sealed envelopes. I shall not allow the tickets in the Household Delivery Service.
