§ 27. Mr. Biggs-Davison
asked the President of the Board of Trade what discussions he had during his recent visit to the United States of America on methods of reducing or eliminating the United Kingdom's adverse balance of trade with that country; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Erroll
My discussions with the United States Administration were concerned with the reduction of tariffs and other barriers to international trade, including trade between this country and 179W the United States. We do not aim to balance our trade country by country, but to achieve a satisfactory position in our total external balance of payments.
