asked the Minister of Health how many cases of infected frozen whole eggs have been brought to his notice during the past twelve months ; and what steps are taken under the Food and Drugs Act to reduce the danger to the public from this source of infection.

During the twelve months to the end of September, 1956, 563 samples were reported by the Public174W Health Laboratory Service to be infected. As regards the steps taken to reduce the danger to the public health, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Newbury (Mr. Hurd) on 29th October.
