§ Mr. Mitchison
asked the Prime Minister what are the duties of the Commissioners of Crown Lands; and where they are set out.
§ The Prime Minister
The Commissioners of Crown Lands are appointed for the purposes of the Crown Lands 103W Acts, but their general duties are not prescribed by statute. In their management of the Crown Estate they are responsible to the Sovereign for its capital value and to Parliament for the annual income accruing. In exercising their functions, they pay full regard to the obligations normally expected of a good landlord. The relevant provisions of the Crown Lands Acts are summarised in Appendix E of the Report of the Committee on Crown Lands.
