asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the official admission by the Egyptian Government that our military intervention had effectively dissuaded the forces of Syria, Saudi-Arabia, and Jordan from joining in the recent hostilities, he will instruct our information services to give the widest publicity to this fact.

I presume the hon. Member is referring to the statement made by the Egyptian Commander-in-Chief broadcast by Cairo Radio on 30th November. Full use is being made of164W this statement to support our conviction that the Allied intervention in Egypt stopped the spread of hostilities throughout the Middle East.
