26. Commander Maitland
asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air in what areas low-flying training is permitted in the vicinity of the towns of Skegness, Spilsby, Horncastle, Alford, and Wain-fleet; and if he will indicate the size of these areas.
Alford and Wainfleet lie at the edge of two overlapping areas in which authorised low flying training is carried out. Horncastle and Spilsby are inside these areas, which, taken together, cover about 950 square miles. Spilsby and Alford also lie near routes along 107W which low-altitude flying on a set course is practised. Another route of this kind passes two miles west of Skegness. Low flying over Skegness is forbidden.
