§ 118. Mr. Summers
asked the Secretary of State for War whether special service engagement personnel are to have their Service engagements extended beyond the normal four years and for how long.
§ Mr. Strachey
Yes. Short service engagements are Regular engagements and as such fall within the temporary ban imposed on the discharge or transfer to the Reserve of all Regular soldiers. It is not intended to retain these men for more than 12 to 18 months beyond the date on which their engagement would normally end.
