§ Mr. Harvey
asked the Lord President of the Council what are the functions of the Universities Committee of the Privy Council; who are its members; when did the committee last meet; and how often has it met in recent years?
§ Sir J. Anderson
The present function of the Universities Committee of the Privy Council is to report on any statute 37W petitioned against under the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923, which may be referred to the committee by His Majesty in Council as provided in the Act. It consists of the ex-officio members named in Section 44 of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1877, with Lord Atkin and Lord Wright. The only occasion on which it has been necessary for the committee to meet in recent years was in 1933.
